Recently I wrote an article citing the best and worst financial advice given by our parents. It was a fascinating and often humorous foray into a generation who grew up in a time of scarcity, giving advice to a generation who grew up with everything they could have wanted.
Talking to my friends about this, I also got hints of general life advice from parents, much of which was ridiculous. I am eager to put together a “Best & Worst Life Advice” post but to do this I’m going to have to ask for your help again.
Don’t be shy, I want everything you’ve got. Send me tidbits, paragraphs, life lessons, anything and everything your dear folks passed onto you, for better or worse.
Email me at MGRANTCONSULTING@GMAIL.COM or post your best stuff in the comment section below this post.
With Gratitude,
Merk
Liking the sound of this, Mercedes. I’ve got something kind of subtle but I’ll share anyways: My mother is a worrier and used to always say things like, “be careful” and “what will people think?” The underlying message was that life is dangerous and what other people think of you is of the utmost importance. I’ve had to unlearn those things over the years, and I’m much better off for having done so
